Have you noticed any heart-shaped candy boxes or giant teddy bears in stores yet? It’s that time of year when we do extra special things to show people how much we love them. One sweet way to do that has always been with candy hearts. Candy hearts are such a fun way to show someone you love them, which goes perfectly with what we are teaching preschoolers this month. After all, everything Jesus did while He was on earth was to show us how much He loves us. And if there’s one thing we really want preschoolers to know, it’s that Jesus loves them.

Preschoolers love trying to do things like grown-ups. They like to press computer buttons and jump high to throw the basketball or stir the food to make something yummy. Being able to say they can do things like Mommy or Daddy is a big deal! This month, we are teaching preschoolers something else they can do that is a really big deal. They can love like Jesus! We want preschoolers to know that they can love like Jesus, and when they love like Jesus, it’s like tossing confetti everywhere! Serving others, showing kindness, helping and loving everyone—these are things that even our youngest children can do. And when they do, they love like Jesus.

Have you ever thought about what makes you, you? We all have different backgrounds, families, or favorite colors. We all enjoy different sports, foods, vacations, and have different friends and experiences in life. Even twins have different fingerprints! Together, all of those pieces make up who we are. But we can’t understand who we are and what we were created to do without first understanding the way God sees us. Every single one of us was created in the image of God. But even as image bearers, we were created as unique. There is only one you, and this month we have the chance to explore how God can use the ways we were created to make a difference.

Cooperation isn’t always something that may happen naturally, but it is something that is near and dear to God’s heart. Since the beginning of creation we see how God created us to be in community with one another. Cooperation is a spiritual concept that originates with God, and throughout the Bible, we see how God brought people together to accomplish God’s plan for the world. When we work together, we reflect Jesus to others, and our love for one another can point people to Him as we explore what God wants us to do together.

We also need volunteers! Do you love to see a kid smile? Do you like to invest in the lives of others? What about prepping bins for Kid’s Church on your own time? Do you like to decorate exciting areas or just slap some paint on a sign? If you are a 6th grader-100 years old, we would love to have you be a part of our exciting Kid’s Ministry. We are looking for volunteers in Nursery, Preschool Sunday School, and K-5th grade classes that are Sunday mornings at 10 AM. Teach every other Sunday. You don’t have to be a Bible expert to work with kids, just someone who loves to have fun! Click here to volunteer.
